LONDON, Ont. Michael Rafferty had apparently for years harboured pedophilic interests and a propensity for sexual violence.
Terri-Lynne McClintic had for years harboured fantasies of torturing innocent victims and cultivated the ability to suppress any emotion that wasn’t anger.

They came together in a chance encounter on Feb. 4, 2009, at a pizza shop in Woodstock, Ont., and two months later they teamed up to abduct, sexually assault and murder eight-year-old Victoria Stafford.
No one knows what would have happened if Rafferty and McClintic had never met, but as suggested by a police officer who interrogated Rafferty, tragedy struck when each of their particular brands of depravity collided.

A masseur from north-west London sexually assaulted 18 of his female clients, including a 17-year-old girl, a court has heard.
Daniel Pytlarz preyed on the women in his massage parlour for his “own gratification”, jurors at London’s Southwark Crown Court were told.
Prosecutors allege that the married 34-year-old touched the women sexually while he gave them treatments at The Violet Clinic – Body and Skincare Spa in Abbey Gardens, St John’s Wood.
Prosecutor Lesley Jones said he took advantage of the women, who were from “from all walks of life” and of varying ages, as they were in a “relaxed state” and lay naked or semi-naked on his table.
Ms Jones said: “He breached the confidence they were given by a professional person and he used the veneer of clinical surroundings and a quasi-therapeutic environment so he could touch women inappropriately for his own gratification and without their consent. And he did this under the guise of a professional masseur.”

London Massage Parlors: Council backs child protection campaign

The council said the borough had shown it could meet all the commitments identified by the charity as vital in ensuring local children are as safe as possible, including training professionals to spot the signs of child sexual exploitation and having a strategy and services in place to help victims.
Councillor Dave Callaghan, executive member for children, families and youth services at Sutton Council, said: “I’m proud that Sutton has signed up to this campaign to demonstrate its support and determination to make sure all children in the borough are kept safe.
The Local Safeguarding Children’s Board‘s annual conference in November focused on child exploitation and the links with trafficking, young runaways and other vulnerable children.
At a full council meeting in October a motion was passed agreeing a statement of principle against the use of newspapers carrying adverts for massage parlours.
