According to an article on Variety.com, The play is a story of greed and fraudulent accounting practices that transformed Enron into a powerhouse that at one time employed 22,000 people and reported $111 billion in revenues. The inflated numbers were achieved using accounting loopholes to hide billions in debts and losses from its balance sheet. When the ruse was over, Enron collapsed into bankruptcy. Its leaders were prosecuted and accounting giant Arthur Andersen shuttered.
Prebble is slated to write the script. She also wrote the British TV adaptation of The Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Laura Ziskin will be producing the film. Ziskins previous producing credits include the 1995 Gus Van Sant-directed dramedy, To Die For, which starred Nicole Kidman, the 2005 Josh Lucas/Jessica Biel action film, Stealth, and all three of the Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco with Ziskin already slated to produce the franchises upcoming fourth installment.
