London, Sep 6 (ANI): British footballer Wayne Rooney is all set to fly to Switzerland on Monday for England’s Euro 2012 qualifier despite allegations about him having a relationship with a prostitute, Jenny Thompson.
The Football Association said the whole squad will fly out for Tuesday’s group C match.
England midfielder James Milner confirmed the news to the media that Rooney trained with the squad on Sunday.
After a dismal performance at the 2010 World Cup, Rooney provided much of his team’s creative spark against the Bulgarians at Wembley, where the team won 4-0.
“He’s a top player, he showed it on Friday and trained fully today [Sunday]. I’m sure he’ll continue to do that. Things are always said in the newspapers. It is part and parcel of football and down to us to make sure the only thing that matters is what happens on the pitch,” The BBC Sports quoted Milner, as saying.
