George Osborne’s doctor brother is suspended for misconduct
A doctor in Manchester who wrote prescriptions for a girlfriend, a family member and an escort girl has been suspended.
Dr Adam Osborne, whose brother is shadow chancellor George Osborne, cannot practise medicine for six months, a disciplinary panel in Manchester ruled.
A General Medical Council panel said Dr Osborne behaved dishonestly when attempting to obtain anti-psychotic medication for a cocaine-addicted woman he had been seeing while his partner was away.
The 33-year-old had earlier admitted “inappropriate” behaviour in relation to the prescription, as well as those written to get an anti-smoking drug for a family member and the contraceptive pill for his then-girlfriend.
The panel said the misconduct, which relates to incidents between June 2006 and May 2008 when Dr Osborne was a psychiatry trainee at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, impaired his fitness to practise.
